Future Earth Australia awarded 2026 Workshops Program Grant

ASSA Grant Recipient

We’d like to congratulate Kate Nairn, who has been awarded a 2026 Workshops Program Grant from the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, alongside Professor Steve Dovers and Mr Drew Clarke. The grant will support an expert roundtable on biodiversity and the net zero transition, to be held in February 2026.

ABOUT THE GRANT

The 2026 Workshops Program Grant supports collaborative, high‑impact discussions on priority social and policy issues across Australia. This funding enables leading experts to convene, share evidence and co‑design practical solutions that can inform national decision‑making.

THE EXPERT ROUNDTABLE

Achieving net zero emissions requires rapid investment in renewable energy, transmission and new infrastructure, all of which affect landscapes, ecosystems and communities. Integrating biodiversity conservation into this transition helps avoid unintended impacts and supports more resilient environments and livelihoods. Outcomes from the roundtable are expected to inform future research, policy development and collaborative action on biodiversity and net zero in Australia.
