Sydney workshop, Urban systems transformation
On 7 November 2018 Future Earth Australia held the secondin a series of national workshops for its project ‘Urban systems transformation: sustainable cities’. The Greater Sydney workshop was hosted by the University of New South Wales and included stakeholders from territory government, city councils, local businesses, NGOs and research groups.
The event began with presentations by Professor Helen Lochhead, Dean, Faculty of the Built Environment, Professor Christopher Pettit, Director, City Analytics Program, Faculty of the Built Environment, UNSW, and Dr Simon Pinnegar, Associate Professor in City Planning, Faculty of the Built Environment, UNSW. Following the presentations, participants were asked about their visions for a sustainable future in Sydney. Using an online poll, we generated a word cloud of answers to a number of questions. For instance, when asked ‘What is your vision for a sustainable future in Sydney?’, the words sustainable, metroserved, green, connected, inclusive and liveable were the most commonly answered.
